The works to this medieval Castle in Maynooth are the outcome of an open architectural competition. They comprise of a new stone entrance podium opening the Castle to the Main Street in Maynooth. Internally, the 2 vaults to the base of the Castle are restored and laid out as an exhibition space with 2.1m high x 1.8m wide standing stones forming the hanging walls for the exhibit. A new stair provides access to the first floor of the Castle. This is housed within a new enclosure finished in glass, stainless steel and copper. The project commenced in 1996 and was completed in 2001.
